Mark V. Olsen & Will Scheffer are writers, producers and filmmakers. They met when they were playwrights in NYC in 1990. Their works have been produced across the country-- Playwright's Horizons, Naked Angels: 'Easter,' The Public Theater & Ensemble Studio Theater: 'Falling Man,' The Old Globe: 'Cornelia.' In 1997 Will's screenplay: 'In The Gloaming' was produced by HBO Films; that same year Mark was discovered by HBO: 'Mary Chestnut's Civil War.'
Mark & Will moved to LA in 2000 after producing their feature: 'Easter' & co-founded Anima Sola to focus on film and television production. In 2003 they created HBO's award winning drama 'Big Love' & in 2013, the comedy gem: 'Getting On,' starring Laurie Metcalf. They were legally married in 2008 (in Byron Smith's edit-bay) while producing Season 3 of 'Big Love.'
Mark & Will demand excellence from themselves & their collaborators. They insist on diversity, respect & generosity of spirit in their workplace. Dramatic storytelling is a necessary & demanding craft. Mark & Will practice it rigorously & hone their skills through ongoing study, teaching & by mentoring emerging artists on the job, through the Writers Guild-- as well as at Universities, Institutes, Film Festivals & Industry Conferences: Ensemble Studio Theatre Institute (member), USC School of Cinematic Arts, UCLA, City University of New York, Lewis & Clark College, Provincetown Film Festival (board), Dances with Films (board). Anima Sola's mission is to create popular art that provokes, consoles & entertains. In collaboration with exceptional talent, Mark & Will produce work that subverts convention, revels in the complexity of human relationships & survives the ravages of time.
